Gastón Mendieta

Gastón Mendieta is an Uruguayan illustrator based in Barcelona.

Born in 1988 in the city of Montevideo. After moving to Catalonia he completed his illustration studies at the Escola d’Art i Disseny Serra i Abella in Barcelona.

After some time of experimentation and artistic search, he starts working as a professional illustrator. Since then he has collaborated with publications, brands, and several projects, developing these commissions from his own perspective.

For Gaston, the illustration that defines his work projects the search for the concept in harmony with the aesthetics, the message, and the composition are elements that define his work to create strong emotions in the viewers.

Graphically, he experiments with digital illustration, creating pieces that are loaded with depth, through the play of light and the use of textures that make his work recognizable and with an organic evolution over time.

Gastón has created illustrations for clients such as The New Yorker, GQ, The Washington Post, The New York Times, Mr Porter, El País, The Wall Street Journal, Ecoembes, and many others.
