CES
Robert Provenzano, professionally known as CES, is an American artist and a defining figure in New York City’s graffiti movement. Born in 1970, he was drawn to art from the age of five and became completely immersed in graffiti culture before thirteen. In 1983, he fully committed himself to writing, developing a moniker that has remained influential for over four decades.
CES rose to prominence in the 90s, as part of a wave of artists who shifted graffiti from subway cars to street bombing and large-scale murals, helping to shape the modern urban art landscape. His work has carried him across the world, inspiring artists and cementing his reputation as one of the most recognizable names in the entire movement. In 2004, he established a studio space in the Bronx, and since 2013, has dedicated himself entirely to his studio practice, continuously evolving his approach while staying true to his roots.
CES’s work has been featured in publications including The New York Times and Crain’s New York Business, and he has collaborated with hundreds of brands, seamlessly merging graffiti aesthetics with entertainment, fashion, sports, and corporate culture. His art has adorned the walls of museums and galleries worldwide.
Working from his Bronx-based studio, CES continues to push creative boundaries daily, expand
his influence, and remain a force in contemporary graffiti—all while honoring the culture that
shaped him.
